The Most Loved Teddy Bear Competition – Finalists

Author: Jonathan Warren
Our Most Loved Teddy Bear competition has now closed, and after over 60 entries only one teddy could take the top spot, Hayley Atkins and her cuddly toy!
Hayley Atkins, from Bexhill, East Sussex, has won the competition and says her dad bought her ‘Teddy’ a fortnight before she was born.

The full list of finalists were:
Stuart Edwards, ‘Ted is well and truly retired now as too much movement will most likely cause a limb to fall off or maybe even his head will detach from the safety pin and thread bare material holding it on. I have a 2 year old daughter and she has already spotted Ted and wants to play, maybe he will come out of retirement for some more holidays one day soon....’
Gary Wilson, ‘My teddies name is nemo and I try and take him on most of my holidays as a good luck charm’
Christine Bintcliffe, ‘Teddy used to be pink but is now a dusky grey colour, his once fluffy fur is now flat, bald and bobbly and his patches have been mended many times. My mum has made him new hands and feet and his once stitched nose has now been replaced with a button. Ted’s ears are wonky and his straw stuffing can be seen through holes but this just gives him more lovely character.’
Molly McCarthy, ‘This is ‘cuddles’ I’ve had him for 18 years and believe it or not he used to be a rabbit with long ears! He’s been much loved over the years and I can’t bear to part with him!’
Lila Percival, ‘This is Mr Bumbles, a very distinguished bear! He has many holes, a wobbly head, is missing an eye and had a run in with a bottle of super glue while trying to fix his eye!’
Erica Price, ‘This is John the panda’
K Evans, ‘Ted and I’
